For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: All’s well here. Male defended the nest yesterday from an intruder Osprey. The female has made some slight behavior changes. She is frequently standing up and poking down toward the eggs. Since I have not seen her feed them, I assume they are not yet hatched.

Weather Conditions: 70° F. Scattered clouds. Winds 15 mph from the East.
Other Activity: Went on the island and observed one osprey on rim of nest and the other in the nest. Nest clearly visible from walking path. Concerned the path near the nest makes it easily accessible for walkers on the island. Lots of dogs running freely as well.
