Then a rather confusing ballet takes place - the male flies off and the female leaves nest for the post perch where she is then buzzed by the male who leaves up the creek. Female returns to the nest and feeds chick. Male returns to perch. Five minutes later male leaves perch, flies in large circle returns above nest, lands scoops up object (fish debris) and leaves. Male does not return and female settles to lying position.

GLO-03 - Farm Creek Platform

Osprey Perched
Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2020-06-30
1:45 to 2:10
at: Gloucester
Number of Adults Visible: 1
Number of Nestlings Visible: 0
Number of Fledglings Visible: 0
Weather Conditions: overcast, mid 60's
Other Activity: No osprey visible on nest for second day in a row. May be too low in nest to see. Perched Osprey did not visit the nest but did fly away from GLO-03 to GLO-02 carrying a small fish.
Observation Method: foot
General Comments: Possible that nesting osprey was too low in nest to see and that the lone osprey flew away from the nest with food was simply an attempt to eat in private. Could the nest be abandoned? Possibly. Not seeing an osprey on the nest for two consecutive days makes me wonder. Hoping for the best. I will check again in the next day or two.
