Name: Stan Franzeen

Nest Name:
SLM-02 - Danvers River Transmission Tower

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Other (specify below)

Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2021-06-10
9:40 AM to 9:55 AM
at: Beverly

Number of Adults Visible: 2

Number of Nestlings Visible: 0

Number of Fledglings Visible: 0

Weather Conditions: sunny, 65F, breezy, high tide

Other Activity: Apologies if this is too much detail, but today's behavior was a bit unusual: two OSPR were perched on the nest when I arrived, OSPR1 feeding itself (maybe chix, too - obscured view); then OSPR2 leaned in & plucked a 1/2 fish (tail end) with its claws, took a bite, then flew away with it. OSPR1 seemed to be undisturbed and appeared to continue feeding and/or whatever in the nest for a few mins. before flying away. Then one OSPR returned to the nest clutching some kind of vegetation, added it to the nest, and continued to rearrange some of the nesting materials. I needed to leave, but I would have liked to observe the next stages of this little drama.

Observation Method: foot

General Comments: Going forward, if poss. the "Adult Osprey Activity Observed" drop-down could be improved by permitting more then one activity to be checked - esp. if more than one OSPR is present. The "Other Activity" field is OK, but making that change might facilitate reports a bit.
