One fledgling tried lifting the soft nesting material but seemed unable to lift off with it. One fledgling had difficulty in one landing, came in too low, but used its bill to grab the edge then its talons and flapped hard to get over the edge.

Nest Name:
ROW-07 - Sawyers Island Platform
Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Osprey Perched
Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2021-08-06
6:15 AM to 6:40 PM
at: Rowley
Number of Adults Visible: 1
Number of Nestlings Visible:
Number of Fledglings Visible:
Weather Conditions: Mid 70s, light breeze, some high cloud
Other Activity: No adult present when I arrived. Female arrived about ten minutes later clutching good-sized freshly caught fish. Settled on nest. Kept fish safely under one talon and checked surroundings -360. I checked around for any sign of male. Instead found a sub-adult Bald-headed Eagle (may be third season) perched and preening in a dead tree due north on a small island just south of the Parker River. Wonder if it's presence had anything to do with nest failure this year or loss of chick last year ??
