For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. General Comments: No osprey activity at all in the area (see ROW 09). No addition of nesting material to platform. Very (?) unusual phenomena observed. "Sea smoke"/steam fog observed over Parker River estuary. Believe this was the result of very high (80)s temperatures for two previous days followed by cold front and drop of 30+ degrees on this day. This meant that visibility directly over water was almost nihil.

Other Activity: Seems like Squam is continuing his pattern of "decorating" the nest with various non-vegetative stuff. I find it amusing that he likes objects that are eye-catching like flattened cans, plastic, paper, etc. Over the weekend (when camera on line) I observed both birds numerous times -- nest building.

General Comments: Bob and Pauline have been working very hard on their nest. They are adding much more in marsh grass than in past years. I hope they are making positive changes to prevent what happened last year. The nest was attacked overnight in a full moon. Two chicks were lost and the side of the nest was torn down.
