For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Other Activity: Initially the nest was empty. After a minute, two Ospreys came to the nest. They only perched for a few seconds and then both flew off. I followed one circling around Smith island and perching from time to time on a treetop. He/she then flew off to the east. After ten minutes, one Osprey landed and perched on top of the nest. I stayed for another 20 minutes hoping the other would land but he/she had not by the time I left 15 minutes later.
