For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 57 f, wind - 15m.p.h., low level clouds with occasional rain showers. High tide.

Other Activity: At first; female osprey around platform by herself, first, perching on the pole perch near the platform; then sitting on the nest. Male osprey swooped in, and sat on nest with female for a little while; then he flew to marsh grass approximately 150 feet to the NE. Each of them was facing the wind.

Observation Method: on foot; observed with binoculars from a bench at Cox Reservation

General Comments: I observed this platform 3 days ago around dusk, and the female was on the perch above the nest. The male was not around.

Other Activity: Bob and Pauline had continued attacks by other ospreys on several occasions. 4 rogue ospreys were dive bombing the pair. The home team eventually won the battle. Today, they are reinforcing the nest and repairing damage done by the attacks.

Other Activity: I called a friend who walks the trail twice a day. He said that he had not seen any osprey on the platform at all. I will check it out tomorrow to look for any signs of nest-building.

Other Activity: There was a pair at Clubhead Creek Platform #1 who flew when we approached. They were immediately joined by 2 more osprey which I believe came from Clubhead Creek Platform #2. There is nesting material on CC Platform #2.
