For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: not sure if there were 1 or 2 ospreys because one was perched on nest and then flew off. then a few minutes later the same or another one landed on the perch over the nest and stayed there, at least while I was watching.

Other Activity: Both adults were perched on nest. One flew off and appeared to fish but could not confirm if he/she caught anything.

Observation Method: On foot at end of pier by ferry landing with binoculars and camera

General Comments: Very excited to see this new nest thriving. There is a good view from the ferry landing and I will continue to observe.

Weather Conditions: Mild to medium breeze; tide was high at 10:08; temp 67. Hazy

Other Activity: 11:10. One osprey perched on nest. Three others circling nearby then four. I spotted one baby briefly. By 11:20 or so the circlers are not visible 11:29 one flyer returns 11:34 he rises from water w one good size fish, noodles around nearby but doesn't come to nest. She leaves around 11:43. Home alone! Only for a minute tho. The baby more active, I see it bobbing up from time to time. Still only one that I see for sure. 11:50 three circling then four 12:04 she's gone. Pretty sure I saw 2 babies before she returned at 12:06. I wonder if the bigger one is picking on its smaller nest mate Finish 12:19 still one adult on nest. Six circling nearby.

Weather Conditions: 68 degrees very light wind. becoming less foggy but still overcast

Other Activity: Both adults were visible on nest and flying on and off. They did not appear to go down to the water to fish etc. but would leave nest, circle and then return. I was able to observe the birds soaring around. I could not tell if it was the same bird that was leaving and returning or if they were taking turns. They did not both seem to leave the nest at the same time.

Observation Method: From car at the end of the street with binoculars and camera.

Other Activity: Two adult birds perched in nest. They were not active during the observation time but it had been a while since I had seen both adults on the nest at the same time.
