Name: Joan O'Connor

Nest Name:
GLO-08 - Magnolia Woods Tree Nest

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Osprey Perched

Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2022-07-03
09:30 AM to 10:11 AM
at: Gloucester

Number of Adults Visible: 1

Number of Nestlings Visible: 0

Number of Fledglings Visible: 0

Weather Conditions: Cloudy, moderate winds

Other Activity: Nice visit from a great blue heron

Observation Method: On foot

General Comments: Pretty sure this was the male. He changed locations (limbs) from time to time - taking a sweep through the trees each time he moved. It almost seemed as though he was anxious for his mate’s return.

Name: Eve Grissinger

Nest Name:
GLO-03 - Farm Creek Platform

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Osprey Perched

Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2022-07-03
7:29 AM to 7:47 AM
at: Gloucester

Number of Adults Visible: 2

Number of Nestlings Visible: 0

Number of Fledglings Visible: 0

Weather Conditions: 69 degrees F. Fairly full cloud cover, though not overcast. Calm, very little breeze.

Other Activity: Two adult Osprey observed on/with the nest. A full nest is built on the platform. One Osprey perched on a lower post next to the nest, about 5-10 yards to the north side of it. That Osprey on adjacent perch/post was facing toward nest, looking at the nest and around at surroundings; occasionally preening briefly. One Osprey was in the nest. After a few minutes the Osprey in the nest flew out of the nest, briefly circled around the marsh area to excrete waste/poop, and circled back to the nest and resettled there.

Observation Method: On foot, with binoculars

General Comments: I didn’t notice the Osprey in the nest was there until it started to move/rise from the nest - it's a fairly deep nest. I I imagine there must be either eggs or chicks in the nest with it. I indicated Osprey perched in the behavior observed dropdown, but I would say it's likely that it was one perched, and the other possibly incubating eggs or chicks in the nest.
