For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: One of the osprey was on the nest and the other one was in the tree just outside our window. No sign of incubating yet. The other day the eagle was in the tree outside our window & Ollie was flying at him until he finally flew away.

General Comments: There was one osprey on the nest. The nest is really big now. Just 2 weeks ago there was no sign of a nest on he channel marker.

Other Activity: During my Earth Day observation there was a brief moment of mating that took place (first time I have seen this anywhere!)

General Comments: After hooking up the male went to the pole perch. Then he came back to the nest, and the two sat side-by-side for a little while. The female flew away after a few minutes.

Other Activity: Pauline is sitting down deep in the nest while Bob stands guard on the nest with her. Earlier in the week, Bob looked like he was on an episode of I Love Lucy. He was stomping down the nest forming a cup and I couldn’t help but think of Lucy stomping on grapes. I have only seen them mate once. Not sure if she is sitting on eggs.
