For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Other Activity: When I arrived, one Osprey hesitantly landed in the nest, was visibly smaller than an adult Osprey and appeared to be a female. I confidently this was one of the fledglings, until a few minutes later another Osprey flew up to the nest and chased the first Osprey out. The second Osprey returned to the nest and stayed there, I am led to believe this was also one of the fledglings (they stayed in the nest and begged for food after) and the one chased off was the younger fledgling, but less likely there is the possibility still that this was a floater. An adult male osprey landed on one of the fish poles for 20 minutes to eat, and the fledgling in the nest was calling the whole time. The male osprey took off, and the fledgling moved to one of the poles. Eventually the fledgling started calling, flew back to the nest, and another osprey (assuming the female) dropped off a fish in the nest, landed on one of the posts, and took off.
