For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: These two osprey appeared to be young adults. When I approached they both took flight and one landed in the marsh and immediately returned to the nest with marsh grass. The 2nd osprey was circling nearby. It almost looked like they were practicing nest building skills.

Other Activity: Fledgling arrived with a fish just as we set up to watch. Looks like the smallest of the three and is still relatively small but is feeding itself. Neither the other two fledglings nor the adult were around.

Other Activity: Adult male perched on rocks below nest. Also noted two adults perched on dayboards for Little Aquavitaes and one adult perched on pole at the Endeavors nest. This last is difficult to see from Winter Island.
