For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: 1 adult and 1 fledgling (saw it fly last week) were on the nest perched and both calling. On the return paddle, 90 minutes later it appeared the fledgling was eating.

Other Activity: Adult was perched with a large nestling squatted alongside. Eventually the adult left, and another nestling came up and squatted alongside the first. Sometime later the adult returned with a fish and ate some then fed the nestlings.

Observation Method: by scope from gazebo on Winter Island

General Comments: Nestlings are still there and seem to be growing, although not very active. Is this a one-parent nest? Is the adult female or male? Heat distortion made it difficult to see clearly.

Other Activity: I didn't see any osprey on this visit, either visually or audibly. There was no activity on the nest, and unlike the last 2 visits, I didn't see the adult at all.

Other Activity: As I approached the nest there were 4 osprey. One on marsh perch, one in the nest and two flying around chasing each other. When I got up to the nest a fledgling took flight along with the one on the marsh perch. As soon as I started to leave they all returned. Three to the nest and one to the marsh perch. This was the first time I was able to observe chicks from this nest.
