For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 58, breezy, grey skies

Other Activity: First time I have been able to confirm female is present. This years nest is very different from all previous versions -much taller and deep in center so female’s head barely shows above nest. Scope needed to confirm presence. Based on previous visits with only binocs which suggested something in nest and the time the new nest took to build they have clearly been present since earlier in April.

Weather Conditions: 54 degrees; high thin clouds; little wind; low tide

Other Activity: They were not eating or mating, but just sitting next to one another on the nest for a time.

Observation Method: On foot with binoculars.

General Comments: One osprey on the nest; was joined by another. Then the second one left the nest, and landed on the separate pole perch.
