For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One adult osprey on marsh perch and one perched on the side of the nest with 2 nestlings. Both adults took flight to check us out as we approached but one immediately returned to the nest perch. The 2 nestlings were large but not as large as the Brophy nestlings.

Other Activity: One osprey on marsh perch left immediately as we approached. We fished in Lufkin Creek for 20 minutes and no osprey came back to the nest.

Other Activity: Male parent frequently seen sharing meals in the nest together. I have not seen the mom for several days. A red tailed hawk landed in the marsh near the nest - it caught a small animal and flew off. There seems to be a detente between Bob and the hawk. They give each other some space and respect. The hawk has been around since early spring.

Other Activity: The female and 3 young osprey were all present at the nest. 1 of the fledglings flew out of the nest, circled and returned to the nest twice. Another fledgling or nestling was exercising its wings. The 3rd nestling or fledgling was feeding itself at the front of the nest.. On a prior visit 2 of the young were obserrved flying, but today just one flew.
