For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: The third nestling just took its first flight, about a week after its mates. It flew from the nest on Platform 1 by the river to join another of its nest mates perched on Platform 2. In recent days the three young birds have gathered on the nest platform to be fed. Neither adult has been spending much time on the nest.

Other Activity: The second fledgling started to land but was rebuffed by the adult. The fledgling persisted and the adult finally relented.

Other Activity: When I arrived, three Osprey were flying over near the river, and the two babies were visible in the nest. The larger fledgling flew over to a pole to the right behind the nest and then took off, circling around the stadium. The smaller Osprey took off shortly after from the nest, and landed on that same poll, crouching closely behind the light.
