For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Ducks and lone seagull swimming to bottom of nest at water’s edge. Fairly quiet boating activity. Small craft, kayakers, paddle boarders moving through channel.

General Comments: He brought her a fish which they shared together on nest’s edge. He hopped to perch to clean up. Her head disappeared into nest. Can’t see what she is doing. Sitting comfortably in nest. He swooped over nest toward ground; scared off ducks. Seagull stayed, finished scraps. Ducks and seagull on it drying off. He’s back at perch. Spends much more time at perch or on nest’s edge. No signs that there are chicks yet. 11:07 she appears to be napping. He’s on perch.

General Comments: She is actively doing something deep in nest; he’s on security on perch. At one point, she spread her wings over the nest for maybe 20 seconds. Back to working at the bottom of the nest.
