For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Other Activity: As I approached the nest there were 4 osprey. One on marsh perch, one in the nest and two flying around chasing each other. When I got up to the nest a fledgling took flight along with the one on the marsh perch. As soon as I started to leave they all returned. Three to the nest and one to the marsh perch. This was the first time I was able to observe chicks from this nest.

Other Activity: Fledgling was on post of nearby shack and flew to the nest as I approached. A 2nd osprey came from Dean Island and landed on the nest. I believe it was an adult but could have been another fledgling.

Other Activity: ADULT OSPREY SITTING ON NEST PERCH, FLEW OFF TO RIVER, SPLASHED DOWN BUT NOT SUCCESSFUL. THEN FLEW TO NEARBY OLD DOCK PILING. FLEDLING IS PERCHED ON ANOTHER PILING. BOTH OSPREYS FLEW ONE AFTER THE OTHER BACK TO THE NEST. FLEDGLING WENT INSIDE NEST AND STOOD UP. ADULT WENT BACK TO PLATFORM PERCH STICK

Other Activity: Adult male and female perched together with one of the young. The young one ate and the female left. After eating the young one flew off, leaving the adult male alone.
