For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: one Osprey was perched on a staddle quite a bit south of the nest platform, a second one was flying low around that area, hunting; could not tell anything about the age, or if they were the two juvs fledged from this nest

Weather Conditions: 70 DEGREES CLEAR 12 NW

Other Activity: The three residents are perched on separate platforms. The fledgling is calling plaintively, seeming to ask for company.

Observation Method: bedroom window

General Comments: The three residents are present and perched most of the time. Feeding on ponies. Yesterday a rough-legged hawk had landed in the marsh hunting for voles with one of the resident ospreys perched on the nest platform. After about 10 minutes the osprey dived on the hawk and chased it away.
