For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: 1 osprey on pier, 1 osprey in nest, and 1 on 4b platform. Osprey flew from pier towards Uitility Pole Nest & disturbed those osprey. Soon there were 3 osprey vocalizing loudly flying high in circles over my head on the GE property. The ospreys on the 4a and 4b platforms just stayed there and watched all the excitement

Other Activity: Both adults perched on platform on my arrival. After about 10 mins restless male left, flew in wide circle and returned to platform. Stayed briefly and then left flying low above creek to south. Female remained on platform as I left.

Other Activity: Jake continues to eat fish on the nest. I have not seen the father for a couple of days now. I am making the assumption that he is feeding himself now. Will keep looking to see if the father appears with a fish. Jake had some competition. Another young osprey flew in and tried to steal Jake’s fish. Jake was “chest bumping” the intruder around the nest until it finally flew off. Great job Jake!
