Sawyer's Island Rowley
Join Jade Fiorilla to learn about current research on wild oysters in the Great Marsh. Jade is an ecologist and evolutionary biologist who has been studying invertebrates in the Great Marsh with various research groups such as Marine Biological Laboratories. Her current work through UMASS looks at the wild oysters scattered throughout the Great Marsh. We will take a short walk along the trail at Greenbelt's Sawyer's Island, where one of these wild oyster beds is located, to learn about their habitat, their role in the ecosystem, and the challenges these creatures face.
