Let’s Hike Haverhill
Join us out on the trails in Haverhill in 2024! Greenbelt is excited to organize a series of hikes on local Haverhill properties. Enjoy a variety of hikes on city-owned land and Greenbelt-conserved land while we explore the diversity of Haverhill.
All events are FREE! Please register in advance (and check back often for registration links as the year unfolds) so we can get in touch with the latest on parking and weather for each outing.
We look forward to seeing you out on the trails!
October 19, Clement Farm
Saturday, October 19, 9:30 – 11:30 am
Clement Farm: An Easy to Moderate Hike
This historic 53-acre site runs above and parallel to the Little River, a waterway that was used as a main transportation pathway for Haverhill’s indigenous people. Extensive pine groves provide great habitat for vocal birds that call this area home. Danial Speers, Chairperson of Haverhill’s Native American Task Force and the city’s poet laureate, will recite a poem in honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day before we proceed on this 1.5 mile trail.
November 16, Meadow Brook Conservation Area
Saturday, November 16, 9:30 – 11:30 am
Meadow Brook: A Moderate Hike
This robust hike in this beautiful conservation area will cover the trails-less-traveled. Don Cox, of Old Wild Farm, is continuing a farming tradition that began on the land abutting Meadow Brook in 1706. Don knows this land well given his family's long history as an abutter and will share his knowledge while we take in great views over Millvale Reservoir and traverse wooded trails and some steeper inclines. Approximate hiking distance 2.5 – 3 miles.

December 7, Barn to Barn Hike and Series Finale Celebration
Saturday, December 7, 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm
Willow Spring Vineyards Barn to Sztucinski-Anton Farm Barn
Join us on our final hike of 2024's Let's Hike Haverhill series! We’ll meet at Willow Spring Vineyard, where Vineyard owner Jim Parker will greet us and lead us on a 1.5 – 2 mile walk from his property to the abutting Sztucinksi-Anton Family Farm, land that’s been farmed since 1922, and permanently protected by the Anton family and Greenbelt in 2019. We’ll walk through beautiful fields and be greeted at the family barn by Janice Anton. At the completion of the hike, we’ll head into the Vineyard event space barn and share complimentary charcuterie boards, with wine and beer available for purchase.
