For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Female Osprey down in the nest on eggs. At 5:10, the male osprey delivered a headless fish to the nest, the female took the fish off the nest to a branch on the outer most tree, left of the nest. The male O positioned itself on the eggs. Then he took off after some flyers in the area. He was back on the nest/eggs at 5:20. One other Osprey was soaring back over the trees, when the fish delivery occurred. Great Black-backed gulls soaring & some were perched on the marsh.

General Comments: I was happy to see their nest survived the high winds. She has not moved from the nest while he has rotated between the two marsh perches keeping watch.

Other Activity: It was so windy, it was hard to tell if the Osprey was there. Stayed around hoping to catch a glimpse. The O might have been deep down in the nest. The nest is huge, some grasses hanging off the left. The boat ramp isn't up yet. Last weekend, I definitely saw the adult incubating. I'm going to check back there as soon as I can.
Observation Method: on foot, the end of Island Rd. down the marsh to the creek
General Comments: Great Black -backed Gulls on the marsh, some soaring.
