For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: bird was incubating in nest when I arrived, then it stood up and seemed to be tending to something in the nest, then settled back in; second bird perched on a piling post quite a bit east of the platform

Other Activity: When I got there the male was sitting on the perch eating a fish. The female was in nest.

Other Activity: Female on nest and male sitting in dead tree on the marsh. Both female and male observed hunting.

Weather Conditions: Sunny, starting to get humid

Other Activity: The pair continue to do a dynamite job in taking care of their nest. The male brings in fresh marsh grass and an occasional stick. Together they poke and prod the material into place. The result is a tightly woven haven, quite a difference from last year’s “trash bag” nest.
