For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Wow, the chicks are so big. Jack has been bringing in fish on a constant basis, sometimes draping it over the nest perch. The chicks stand below the fish looking up at their dad and begging. The chicks continue to lift their wings ( which are now considerably bigger) and flap.

Other Activity: Two adults and one chick perched. One adult took off to check me out as I got near. A third Osprey was circling nearby and another pair of Osprey were flying along the edge of Choate Island.

Other Activity: Two osprey perched on nest. Both took off when I approached. I haven’t seen any activity at this nest for a month. I thought it was abandoned.

Other Activity: Observed adult osprey with fish in its talons land on the nest. The nest not clearly seen from boat. Two adults flying around the nest.

Other Activity: Olivia was on the nest with both chicks. One of the chicks, who is nearly as big as Olivia, was trying his wings and hopping around on the nest. On several occasions we have heard Ollie squawking because there is a visitor in the neighborhood.

Other Activity: First Flight! Saw at least two of the young osprey take their first flights from the nest today. They flew to another platform and returned to the nest later. Also saw one of the young feeding itself. Later the adult female fed another of the young.
