Other Activity: resident female is sitting on eggs. The resident male visits occasionally on the nest and otherwise perches on the other platforms. Today I heard the female make a warning call and saw another osprey flying high above the nest. It rapidly descended to a point immediately above the sitting female who gave more strident warning calls and finally raised its wings to ward off the intruder as the intruder hovered just above the nest. The intruder then flew away to the west. The resident male was not nearby at the time.
Observation Method: from back deck
General Comments: I like the auto-fill feature. It makes reporting much easier. We are getting many more visits by intruder ospreys than earlier in the season.

General Comments: Tough day for this pair. A pair of adult bald eagles attacked the nest and killed the female. We think it was the female because one member of this pair returned later with a fish; mostly likely the male this time of year. Too bad. Time will tell if the remaining bird finds a new mate.
