For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. General Comments: Single osprey perched of rim of nest. No nestling or incubation activity observed. Observing GLO3 from this spot it appeared there was an osprey on the perch. Still investigating potential that GLO3 pair is, like 2021, going back and forth between GLO3 and GLO2.

Other Activity: One adult perched on nest, seemingly very alert but no sign of youngsters or the other adult.

General Comments: Interestingly, during this visit I discovered two heron's nests quite near to the osprey nest. There was one adult heron perched on each nest. Years ago this was a heron rookery and I have seen the occasional heron in the area. This was the FIRST time that I have seen evidence that at least two herons are still nesting at Carter Fields.

Other Activity: One adult Osprey in nest cup at the beginning of the observation and then perched near on the nest the rest of the time. Nestling did not show itself in full for 30 minutes. Rather large (larger than a robin) at this point and only saw one nestling the entire time.

General Comments: Haven't found easy viewing site. Phragmites and insects necessitate more than summer wear when trying to view from park. Viewing from highway breakdown lane seems hazardous.
