Location, Date & Time of Observation:

at: Salisbury

Number of Adults Visible: 1

Number of Nestlings Visible: 3

Number of Fledglings Visible:

Weather Conditions: 55 degrees, cloudy, 10-15 NE

Other Activity: The three nestlings are growing fast and starting to flex their wings. The primary food appears to be pogies. Both today and yesterday my wife and I saw one of the adult osprey fly from the nest and swoop down to a mowed area next to the marsh behind our house and grab a vole with its talons and fly away carrying the vole. The adult did not return to the nest, but circled a couple of times around the house. When it reappeared both times it no longer was carrying the vole. This seems very strange to me. I wonder if others have seen this behavior.

Observation Method: from living room window

Name: Albert Levesque

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
No Osprey visible on Nest

Location, Date & Time of Observation:

at: Revere

Number of Adults Visible: 3

Number of Nestlings Visible: 0

Number of Fledglings Visible: 0

Weather Conditions: 57F, N at 12 mph, drizzle

Other Activity: Two osprey were doing nest work on a low object on the marsh at some distance away, further than the blind, another flew around and landed on the marsh some distance from the side of the stand. One of the first pair left the low object and perched on the nest on the stand.

Observation Method: on foot by scope

General Comments: The nest on the stand is substantial. I assume the pair building the second nest is the couple we will see on the stand next year. The third osprey must just be part of the young single crowd.
