For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Two osprey circled the marsh; a few minutes later, 3 osprey were circling and one was clearly smaller than the other two; the fledgling landed on the nest briefly then flew off to join one of the adults on a tree branch nearby.

Other Activity: The fledgling took off as we paddled across the water, did a small circle, landed back on the nest and started calling repeatedly. 2 adults flew over from the direction of Choate Island, circled over the nest, calling and then left. The fledgling quieted and perched at the edge of the nest.

Other Activity: The 3 nestlings and 1 adult were all perched in the nest initially. Lots of calling was going on. Then one of the nestlings took flight, soared over the marsh and disappeared. Shortly after a second one did a short flight, and returned to the nest. The adult remained perched, and the 3rd did not take flight while we watched. We saw the first fledgling flying around the marsh as we left.

General Comments: One chick was on the nest with Olivia and the other, a female was perched on top of a dead tree nearby where Ollie usually sits. She was trying to keep her balance while looking down & around and wondering where that nest that used to be under her went.
