For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 76 degrees, mostly sunny, 16 mph wind gusts

Other Activity: I believe it a fledgling sitting in the nest while I was there. A photographer approached the nest and the fledgling started to alarm until they left, they returned another time and the fledging started calling again, at this point I went over to the photographer and informed him the Osprey was not happy with his presence so close, he backed off, and the Osprey stopped calling. No other vocalizations were made, didn’t see any one else flying in the distance.

Observation Method: In vehicle from the cvs parking lot and on foot.

Weather Conditions: Warm, partly cloudy, no wind.

Other Activity: Female was on the nest watching the smaller of the two fledglings, who was sitting on the structure about 10' from the nest. I don't think that one has flown much. The other fledgling was on another structure nearby. The adult flew off, calling. I think she was trying to encourage the smaller one to fly. The other one called back. He was probably hungry. 😂

Weather Conditions: 84F, ptly cldy, light west wind

Other Activity: Adult male and nestling were perched then adult left. A few minutes later the nestling did some practice flapping when suddenly it was over the edge of the nest and kept flapping. It returned soon after.

Observation Method: On foot by scope from parking lot beach at Forest River Park.

General Comments: Other "nestling" was not present. Must have previously fledged.
