For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One OSPR was perched on the top of the tower over looking the nest while a fledgling was intermittently practicing lift-off but only managing to rise a few inches above the nest. The perched OSPR flew away after watching for at least 10 minutes

General Comments: On adult Osprey in nest and One nestling observed stretching it’s wings. There may be others in the nest but only one visible on this occasion.

General Comments: Two very active and loud nestlings. One is flapping its wings in nest, not on edge.

Other Activity: one OSPR was perched on the nest when another one landed; then, one by one, they flew away for a few minutes before returning individually; then one flew away, leaving the 2nd one huddled down in the nest. I couldn't tell if they were adults or fledglings.

Other Activity: juvenile osprey with fish chased by eagle just coming into adult plumage

Observation Method: foot, scope, binoculars

General Comments: 1 adult greeted us immediately with a vocal pass overhead and disappeared, later the juvenile came into view and was immediately chased by young eagle, maneuvers continued for several minutes before the eagle gave up

Other Activity: Both chicks doing wing flapping; first time I saw both doing that. Older chick doing a bit of hopping and wing flapping. Annie brought a T-shaped fairly large twig to nest .... is that because the chicks are getting so big that there is danger they may fall out of nest? She tried to place it but wasn't doing too well and shortly thereafter she flew off again.
