For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 58 degF, light breeze from NW, 5% cloud cover
Other Activity: one bird at nest; second bird flew in and dropped off something, then hopped up to nest perch; first bird began to feed itself - it may have started feeding chicks but I can't tell for sure, it has it's back to me

General Comments: the bird on the nest perch has its back to the sun and is holding its wings spread 'way out for about ten minutes, maybe to dry itself - I've seen vultures and cormorants do this, but never before an Osprey do it

Other Activity: on bird at nest, flew off and around a bit, returned and settled into nest; second bird on post perch, flew off and returned with huge stick, worked it into nest

Other Activity: I checked Round Island again after doing the Choate Loop. This time the adult was perched up on the post, and no adult was down in the nest.
