For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: basically no nest material on this small platform - former floor of duck blind only a foot off the marsh. Female was sitting as though incubating but when she stood up, no egg under her. However there was a single egg and some egg shell fragments on the wood platform next to where the female was sitting. Very strange,

Other Activity: One bird in incubating position and 2nd bird on nearby perch. Both lifted off to check me out as I approached and then immediately returned to the nest.

Weather Conditions: (80 f, 10 mph E wind; cloudy; distant rain & lightning in Ipswich; 2 hours past low tide)

Other Activity: (Male brought the female a fish, and then took off again.)

Observation Method: (On foot with binoculars on the marsh-side deck.)

General Comments: (Female sitting quietly on the nest. Ate the fish she was brought.)

Other Activity: Female perched standing on the nest platform and male perched on the perching post of the platform. I passed by 2 hours later and no ospreys were present. Makes me think that there are no eggs in the nest.
