For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Observation Method: On foot

General Comments: Watched for a long time to make sure there was one on the nest. It’s so high up it’s hard to tell. She must be deep in the nest. Eventually saw her stand and flap wings. The male was off somewhere but came and stood on a different light stand for awhile and then flew to the nest. I’m assuming the male/female . Glad to see things seem to be on course.

General Comments: The two chicks look strong. They are proudly holding their heads up. Pauline is pushed to feed them while she is forced to wait to feed herself. When she finally gets the opportunity she rips into the flounder.

Other Activity: I could not confirm if there was a baby in the nest but both adult Osprey were perched and seemed to be looking down. One flew from nest but promptly returned.

Observation Method: Independence Park Jetty - on foot with Binoculars and Camera

Other Activity: Observed one bird on the nest, head dipping into the nest more than if she were just incubating. I suspect they have chick(s) in there, just have not seen them yet. The other bird was on a nearby boat and had just brought back a fish.

Other Activity: After 3 weeks of no sightings on nest and apparent abandonment, one osprey was on perch on nest.Stayed longer but no 2nd osprey sighting.

General Comments: Thrilled to see Osprey back. No evidence of 2nd Osprey on next.
