For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 59 degrees, sunny, cloudy, suddenly became really windy! Beautiful morning

Other Activity: 2 Ospreys perched on the side of the nest. At 10:25, 1 Osprey flew off and escorted a 3rd Osprey out of the nest area. Osprey chirps heard. At 10:30 AM the Osprey flew back to the nest and perched along side the other O on the edge of the nest. At 10:38 AM, the first O flew off. At 10:40 the 2nd O flew off. At 10:42 the first O came back to the nest with a fish delivery. At 10:43 the 2nd O come back to the nest with a stick, then ate some fish. At 10:50, the 1st O flew off and the 2nd O laid down in the nest in incubating posture. A lot of quick events. I must say, I was a little concerned, until the 2nd O settled down in the nest.

Observation Method: on foot, thru the grasses, onto to the rocky road at the edge of the marsh

Weather Conditions: Sunny Hot, 90’s, cool drying breeze at 8 mph

Other Activity: One adult perched above the nest. Very animated with vocalization as it peered intently down at the nest. Perhaps a proud papa?

Observation Method: Foot.

General Comments: My angle is below nest height so I don’t get a view into the nest.

Other Activity: No Osprey visible on nest, although at first I thought I could see the dark feathers of an adult, I could not quite confirm it. One adult perched close by.

Other Activity: One osprey on marsh perch; other on nest. Both making sounds and it appears that there is a large intruder bird circling the nest.
