For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: This bird is clearly a male and seems likely to be the returning male. Has been present off an on several times today.

Weather Conditions: 48, 16 wins w gusts to 28 (a lot of the time at marsh), 50% cloudy

Other Activity: Seals at low tide all morning fairly near nest sight on sand bar.

General Comments: Osprey in nest in morning observing nest condition. Around 3:30 sitting on marsh grass (avoiding intense wind?) feathers really fluffed up. This Osprey has pure white top of head and chest.

Weather Conditions: 45 degrees, windy, sunny with some clouds

Other Activity: Saw osprey flying around as I approached. Found the new nest, but for the first 10 minutes there was no osprey on the nest or in the area. Finally an adult landed on the nest and stayed there the remainder of the time looking around.

Observation Method: On foot, with spotting scope.

General Comments: The new nest is east of the old location in another dead tree. It is in front of a stand of live pine trees.

Other Activity: Two Osprey, one on nest and fixing sticks, the other is perched on marsh perch eating a fish. Another osprey came in and the male took off after it.
