For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One adult was in the nest calling repeatedly after the kayak arrived at the marsh edge. Only one nestling could be seen, hunkered down, but more are possible. A second adult was down in the marsh, but began flying around after the kayak arrived at the marsh.

Other Activity: Observed all the birds in the nest. Chicks were more towards the edge of the nest and visibly active. They were very alert and keenly watching their surroundings. They seem noticibly bigger now, but it's hard to tell relative size. They were maybe 1/3 the height of an adult?

Other Activity: One osprey eating fish below nest. Another incubating in center of nest. Gets up, moves around and chick head and wing are visible lifting from the center of the nest. Only one definite chick seen, but wing could have been another.

Other Activity: On arrival one adult on perch post, one on nest perch. After 5 mins post adult flew to platform and pair remained side by side for the rest of observation, They appeared to be viewing nest activity but I could not see anything above the nest rim
Observation Method: Scope from Nelson's island parking lot
General Comments: This site is at about the limit of my scope [x20-50 Nikon). I am fairly sure I have the correct platform using the website map and triangulating off Great Neck water tower. I will try again and see if I can get a photo to show view from Nelson's lot.
