For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Second adult was initially perched on driftwood to the west of the hut there, but flew off after a couple of minutes. The adult on the nest calling regularly. The nestling was lying in the nest near the adult, and is getting close in size to adult. Nestling has a red eye, white specks on the back, and streaky back of the head.

Other Activity: The 3 nestlings are almost the size of the adult that was perched. 2 were upright and working their large wings a bit. The 3rd was sitting down in the nest. Nestlings were a bit buffy on the nape of the neck, and speckled on the back, but otherwise look similar to the adult.

Other Activity: One adult Osprey perched alongside chick. Chick is same size as adult osprey. Discernable by difference in coloring, especially on wings rather than size.

Weather Conditions: 85 - breezy - sunny

Other Activity: 2 fledglings were visible stretching their wings in the nest, the adult female was also in the nest, the adult male was perched below. The birds started calling and the male repeatedly dove on two cormorants that were swimming nearby. Then the cries increased and the male flew after two new adult osprey that were flying around. He was still chasing them when I left.

Weather Conditions: Warm, 85F, windy

Other Activity: Observed 1 bird on the nest with 2 fledglings. Other adult spent quite some time fishing and finally came up with a huge fish. During the fishing, the other adult flew out to meet its mate, calling while they flew together. After feeding, the fledglings did some practice catching the wind and landing back on the nest. I'm not certain whether either has flown very far.
