Number of Adults Visible: 2

Number of Nestlings Visible: 3

Number of Fledglings Visible: 0

Weather Conditions: Mixed clouds and sun. Dryer air than recently

Other Activity: Unfamiliar and unrelated osprey showing interest during flyover. Female in nest animated in response. Male on stand off location equally animated. Nestlings immediately flatten in order to be concealed.

Observation Method: Spotting scope from house

General Comments: This osprey family of two adults and three nestlings continues to cluster as a family. The male is often gone for long periods. In recent days, the female has also sometimes departed for distance flights, though mostly when she leaves the nest it is for quick fly around. Nestlings seem to know to be less obtrusive when adults are away. When feeding, offspring have begun grabbing for bites on their own, though still tend to be fed by the female. Offspring seem to allow one bird to feed at a time. Offspring appearance still fairly speckled, with white tips at the ends of most feathers. Offspring body size appears closer to adult size.
