For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One osprey on nest with something in its talons--a fish??- and flew off, landed in marsh on ground then flew back to nest, and flew off again and over to marsh near me relatively low, all this time with whatever was clutched in its feet. Another one came soaring over, also relatively low, but they didn't really come together. Don't know if a pair or not.

Other Activity: 1) perched in nest as we approached the bench. we sat a observed with binoculars. 2) flew in to perch on tower with a fish. 1) came down for a look, but returned to nest as 2) flew off tower with fish in talon, and into stand of trees along North River edge. Minutes later 2) flew over the nest and brought fish along. 1) grabbed fish and flew to trees. Then! 2)flew off the top of tower and flew very low over the North River and landed on the edge of mud along the water's edge. We scared it a bit as we got up to peer down. 2) then flew around outside of tower and landed on a mud flat at the water's edge. We watched as it picked up bits of shell with its beak. As we departed 1) flew to the tower with fish in talons to finish a meal.
