For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: Cloudy, drizzle almost high tide

Other Activity: Perched on treetop for a while, possibly hunting, came back and perched again on different tree. On the other side of river from platform.

Observation Method:

General Comments: Osprey have arrived!!!! :) Hoping there will be two and they will nest on the platform! Today was our first sighting and he/she was perched on the treetops for aprox 1hr.

Other Activity: Possible osprey sighted in a tree (across the Parker River from the heretofore unused nesting platform). White object (like the head of an osprey) observed at the top of a white pine tree.

Observation Method: In car on Middle Road with binoculars.

General Comments: Too distant to tell if it was a male or a female.

Weather Conditions: High 40’s, overcast mostly, little wind, occasional rain or drizzle

Other Activity: One pair of birds is clearly allied and bonded to this next site. The third bird was regularly attempting to attract attention but was driven off repeatedly. Many close fly-by moments

Observation Method: From house with spotting scope

General Comments: The pair arrived late March and has actively been working on the nest since. Today, both birds seemed to bring sticks or grass, while a third bird engaged off an on before being driven off. Now, both birds have gone off for a time.
