For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 64 degrees; partly sunny; moderate breeze; high tide
Other Activity: Male was on the separate pole perch; and then flew off over a small nearby stream, and then out of sight. Came back to the same perch, and stayed.
Observation Method: On foot with binoculars.
General Comments: Female observed in the center of the deep nest with just the top of her white head visible.

Weather Conditions: 67 degrees, partly cloudy, wind 13 mph average with gusts to 23 mph
Other Activity: Female low in nest on arrival. Male later brought fish to “fish pole” where he ate about half. Brought remains to nest. Female to foul ball pole were she ate and then flew away toward the river. Stayed to watch the whole sequence to try to determine if they had chicks. Apparently not yet! I know some nests are starting to hatch.

Other Activity: Female osprey sitting on eggs but suspicions about her eggs actually being hatchlings.

General Comments: An honorable mention was that we heard frogs and saw a freshly nibbled tree by a beaver.
