For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: The nestling that was visible is very close to adult size now, but has an orange/reddish eye, a buffy breast and nape and speckled back. When we passed by the nest later, on the trip back, it appeared there was a second nestling with just the head visible. I could not see it in any of the photos I took though, so I did not include it.

Other Activity: Female is feeding a single chick. Male is perched on platform 3. The feathered carcass of the second chick is hanging from the nest. It looks like its leg is caught in netting and the body is hanging below.

General Comments: I've been concerned for the last several days since I only could see a single chick during the few times I've been at home. The second chick was not in view and was not hanging below the nest. It's a grisly scene now.
