For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Perched on one day board then shifted to another. Not likely any other in the nest.

Observation Method: on foot by scope

General Comments: Incidental observation from greater than usual distance. Visibility unusually good today. Angle such that it is not possible to see in the nest.

Weather Conditions: 70F, Sunny, light shifting wind

Other Activity: One incubating that shifted position and tended to something below. The other was feeding on a rock below the Little Aquavitae. That one eventually finished then moved to rocks at Gt Aquavitae and then to the nest to take over the incubating. The relieved one perched on the nest and later on rocks below. It looked like the male.

Other Activity: bird at nest is busy but I can't tell what it is doing; second bird arrived with delivery then flew to perch, first bird began feeding self then clearly began feeding young

General Comments: It is difficult to see if chicks have hatched yet here

Weather Conditions: 58 degF, light breeze from NW, 5% cloud cover

Other Activity: one bird at nest; second bird flew in and dropped off something, then hopped up to nest perch; first bird began to feed itself - it may have started feeding chicks but I can't tell for sure, it has it's back to me

Observation Method: on foot

General Comments: the bird on the nest perch has its back to the sun and is holding its wings spread 'way out for about ten minutes, maybe to dry itself - I've seen vultures and cormorants do this, but never before an Osprey do it
