For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: At this time I could only see one chick. I would think that if there were two I would see both but I can't be sure at the distance and angle I am looking.

Other Activity: One adult clearly visible on edge of nest. Second Osprey was very low in nest and I could not determine with certainty that it away an adult but will assume so unless I can confirm it is not

Other Activity: Observed at a distance on the way to Great Bank and then to Brophy. The adult was perched, but no chicks were visible.

Other Activity: Female perched on side of nest. Couldn't see any nestlings but she was acting as though they were there.

Other Activity: Female perched on side of nest. Pretty sure I saw a chick within the nest. Just a little to far for me to be sure.

Other Activity: Large chick sitting up in the nest, and at times facing the adult calling. The adult flew off briefly and returned. At one point the chick was flapping its wings. Its marking are very similar to the adult except white spotting/edges of its feathers on the back.

Weather Conditions: 75 degrees F, partly sunny, calm

Other Activity: Observed the nest from the kayak and then from the nearby rocky island in the sound. The adult (assuming female) flew off and the chick began flapping its wings and moving around quite a bit. It did not quite get any air.
