For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 74 degrees, sunny with haze, very slight breeze
Other Activity: The osprey stayed perched on the nest the whole time and did not sit down in the nest the whole time. It did a little preening, and occasionally lifted it's wings up off it's body as if to shed some of the heat from the sun. It also vocalized a number of times.
Observation Method: On foot with spotting scope.

General Comments: Second guessing my entry!! May be mother in the nest? She seems very low and active (as opposed to just sitting there and easily visible)… maybe it’s just her moving around that I see and not nestlings??
