For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: While one Osprey was on the platform moving material around, the other flew in with a large grasp of what looked like marsh hay (which the Colby's have been cutting, turning and bailing all day.).

Weather Conditions: 54 degrees; clear and sunny; light breeze; really high tide

Other Activity: Male and female sitting on the nest. Mated! Each flew off over the marsh, possibly looking for fish, and then returned, and mated again. Saw one of them return to the nest later with a long stick. After a bit they flew off over the GDA campus.

Observation Method: Next to my car in two spots on Middle Road with binoculars.

General Comments: Also saw 2 other osprey flying around, and soaring above the Parker River and the marshes. Perhaps there is another nest in the area.

Other Activity: Osprey on this platform believed to move later to 05 so I don't think this nest is active (yet). No evidence of nest building as compared to visit last week. While saw Osprey on platform over the course of 15 minutes Osprey left and 05 then had 2 osprey so believe he moved.

Other Activity: Initial observation 1 osprey on nest. See report for 06 #2. Viewed osprey on this platform w/no evidence of nest materials. Later, when returned to 05, one on nest and one on stand nearby. Believe this might have been the same osprey on 06.
