For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: The resident female was sitting in the nest and the resident male was perched on platform 3 when another female osprey arrived with nesting material in her talons. She flew toward platform 1 and attempted to land but was intercepted by the resident male who challenged her and kept her from landing. The intruder continued to circle close by and made repeated attempts to land on both platform 1 and 2. She was challenged by both the resident female and the resident male on numerous occasions before flying away, still carrying the nesting material. Since then the resident female has returned to the nest on platform 2 and the resident male is alternately perching on platforms 1 and 3 to defend the territory.
