For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: For the majority of the time I observed one osprey sitting deep in the nest. At around 5:25 PM the second adult osprey (appeared to be the male) returned and swapped places with the female. The female then flew off.

Observation Method: On foot from viewing platform

General Comments: The blue heron nests are very active and I observed at least one nest with three hatchlings.
