For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: When I arrived the osprey was on the nest, then dropped down to the ground to get a stick. It spent a few minutes working the stick into the nest. Then it spent about 10 minutes perched next to the nest and preened itself. Then it got more nesting material and worked on the nest again.

Other Activity: Female relieved male from incubation duty. Female seen rolling eggs before settling down.

General Comments: The first egg was laid 4/17/26 and the second on 4/20/26 which is about 7 days earlier than past years.

Other Activity: One ospray in platform/nest. One sitting to the right of the platform on the edge of river. No nesting material noted on platform

Observation Method: Parked along Mills Ave and there is easy viewing of this platform.

General Comments: I'm hoping that this platform becomes an active nest and that the folks that live along Mills Ave, enjoy the new platform!
