For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 75° / high clouds / wind = NE 7+mph with gusts to 16mph
Other Activity: Female nesting. Male was out and about hunting. Swung to the northeast side of the nest and dove into water behind tall grasses. Flew up with a fish and then headed south, past the nest, swung around to fly into the wind and landed gracefully on nest with female to feed. Awesome sight!
Observation Method: Walked out to viewing platform.

Observation Method: Osprey wasn’t visible from the normal viewing location. Moved around the rail yard approx. 30 yards and bushwhacked to a better location.

Other Activity: Male perched and intruder tried to land but discouraged by male. Intruder repeated five times and then left. Could only see faint spot of white in the nest and assume it was head of female incubating.

Other Activity: Female remained in incubating position. They had started much later than other pairs.

General Comments: Salem Harbor Channel Marker R2 had much better viewing. Both were on the nest and female rose at one point and a nestling was visible. Female resettled in a higher position and was more visible.
